Wilson County Barbeque's Smoked Baked Beans
Tasting Notes
Smoky, tangy, hearty
Weekly Review
WOW! I bet you didn't expect that I would move out of the canned and bagged beans into restaurant beans huh?! What's next... HOMECOOKED?! You'll find out. Also, apologies for the tardy post here, it was a whirlwind of a week and I didn't eat ANY beans until very late.
For this week's beans, we traveled to Wilson County Barbeque in Portland, Maine.... every Wednesday, during trivia hours, they do an insane wing deal (I highly recommend the Carolina Gold sauce) and you know I had to pair my wings with their smoked baked beans.
I don't know if it was due to me being put through the ringer during reformer Pilates just moments earlier or what but the wings and the beans tasted especially delicious this evening. The beans had a really strong smoky flavor that paired really well with the tangy sauce that they were simmered in... and it made sense as a side to the beans and the fries I got. The smokiness was really no joke, and I found that it made for a very unique bean.
Wilson's is known for their delectable fried chicken but don't skip on getting these beans!
